Wow. It's so strange to hear people speak of Namagunga in such loving terms. But then so much has changed; I left in 2007, and very little of the memories I have still warm my heart. more…

I remember singing this song at Mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Madison Wisconsin. I once wrote to ask for the lyrics to one of those hymns, and they sent them to me!

    Wake up my people.
    Wake up, give a shout!
    Wake up my people.
    Know what life's about!
And wake up to the needs of all the ones who suffer so more…

Muteesi, what is parent's day? Isn't that what was called "dooms day". That day in S.4 when you parents come to talk to the teachers about your A-level choices?
Surely if it is the day, Muteesi can you please tell me why anyone would be singing? How many days a year were you actually in Nga, you?

Eva, what you really want to be thanking God for is the small fct that you were not in that school when the old hall was the "only hall".Can you imagine assembly there every morning? And it had horrible chairs that you couldnot separate. It was like a long chain.
Who exactly hibernated in that hall? I am with you on this one...........I never more…

    Hi gals,
we have really discussed the issue alot but are not making much progress and yet the clock is ticking!!!

Ok, i'll follow Penny's lead and mention the possible venues that come to mind. Only after we agree on the place shall we know exactly what preparation goes into it. So, in addition to her proposed "honey tree montes more…

Did someone anonymous say Capui making it? Oh men before we know it we will be inviting all the miss wasswa's, opaman etc. Don't get me wrong if it wasn't for these people may be we would not be where we are but that is too much drama involved that means we have to buy capui a ticket then instead of us being relaxed and sipping those drinks we will more…

22nd if that's ok - it's hard to do 16th for us and then we can travel to the village that weekend.

Venue is not hard really - pick one but we might need to confirm it because of the christmas holidays and weddings et al.

Committee very essential - esp the ladies at home "locals" - because that would then take care more…

    I agree with you, Eva.

Maria et al, what date would be convinient for you?

Reason I am asking is cause I think the 16th would be better for us 'locals' who may be planning on going to the village- not to mention all that goes with Xmas preparations (taking into account children, husbands, in-laws and all).

    I more…

My view is that venue will depend on the kind of bash we have in mind. 22nd December is a Friday, and if am not mistaken, quite a number of the "really hard working" Ugandans will be busy tying up a few loose ends at work...meaning that the practical thing would be for us to plan an afternoon/evening do.

Now if that's the case, i'd ima more…

Actually Pat, we did get other things for "special mention".

I remember getting the famous coveted N'ga key ring for special mention in Social Graces when Nagadya was Minister- I think that was also the year of the golden jubilee so there were substantial "promo mats" to give (and get).

The difference of course is that a more…

Bazzexs you have been really quiet? ok so venue is very crucial. i think we need to hire a venu where we can bring in outside catering services( for the food, drinks), music and where we can be free to wear jeans and madonna tops (smile smile smile)
i know places like the honey tree montessori gardens, maria's place. i would need the "locals" more…

But 'Nga was another one... students were ALWAYS under the watchful eye of someone:- on going to sleep, you had to be supervised. Upon rising, you were under the scrutny of the dining room affairs, Internal affairs, social graces, education, etc, etc. Its a wonder there was no religious affairs to enforce the 'going for daily mass' thing.

Guundi, i am also in shock, that the word 'nyash' actually legally exists in some God-forsaken country. So i can relate with your shock when your Nigerian frined says the word like she's been fluking our blog all along.
