Not just talk

Can we do 22nd December - if i am home i'd like to be home for new years and coming in on the 16th absolutely pushes my luck with work - 22nd is the Friday before Santa comes visiting - and then saturday is good for people to travel - those who need to travel. I need to be somewhere in my village that saturday which gives me time but there's also the possibility of 23rd and going to the village on the 24th -and this is just me thinking aloud.

Maria - hats off to your memory - kabani you get an A+ for your memory. Ask Sr. Vincent for the lorry drivers name they were always together - no pun intended It's funny i was thinking about the gate man the other day and couldn't place his name. The black lady in the cashiers office looks like the lady who has a section in the new vision called Mama Tendo/Tembo - i was trying to place her - don't think they are one and the same but they might be related from the looks of it.

Okay, looks like we have 16 and 22 December.......but when you write on the blog, you think we know your "handwritting"............unleash thyself.

22nd is good, even for us the 'locals'. Coz at least then, many of us will have gotten the christmas break. Besides, the Christmas mood will have set in, so we should be all set for the do... ladies, let's party.

People, please give your suggestions and let's put our all into this re-union. Time does fly and before we know it, it will be year end.

That's appox 7 months of fantastic planning we used to spend 2 years planning socials I am sure we can do a lot in 7 months.

Location location location - very important - and hopefully we can have loads and loads of pictures as well.

We need to have an "organizing committee" - Ms. Karungi where art thou - we need your committee - we need a treasurer - someone we can send money too - should we do some sort of journal to give out that day with our picutres and info on where to find everyone as a token - and yes we need a DJ - good food - the works - a party to remember for years to come....

I guess a lot of the work will have to be the good folks at home but we can chip in here and there - whose drawing up the budget - again - we need an organizing committee.

In the meantime...congratulations go out to Ms. Freda Nkata - who tied the knot recently congratulations - i gather the Parkers were all bridesmaids where's the pictures....

Dec 22nd sounds good to me as well.... so what does everyone want to do? i feel so old that i feel the most appropriate thing is just go to a bar have drinks till morning- if we make reservations can we get a kafunda there we don't pay for location only our drinks and food and usually there is already kadongo kamu music playing in the background if my memory of Kampala serves me right. Anyways on a serious note i think when we start getting DJ's involved/ trying to book them December being a wedding month we might me counting our losses ate Rasta Rob is in London otherwise he would have given us a good deal hmmmmmmmmm. It's great to be back on the Mpewo.. Maria for your info i don't remember the gate man's name because the few times i left Nga premises were illegal and i dare not showed my face as i hid in the back of a car!!

nonetheless anti i am the one who negotiated the deal for him to play for the one social we hosted so i guess then every one thought i knew him on "different level"...

Bazzexs you have been really quiet? ok so venue is very crucial. i think we need to hire a venu where we can bring in outside catering services( for the food, drinks), music and where we can be free to wear jeans and madonna tops (smile smile smile)
i know places like the honey tree montessori gardens, maria's place. i would need the "locals" to beef up the list.
didnt any one of us venture into music as a side biz?

My view is that venue will depend on the kind of bash we have in mind. 22nd December is a Friday, and if am not mistaken, quite a number of the "really hard working" Ugandans will be busy tying up a few loose ends at work...meaning that the practical thing would be for us to plan an afternoon/evening do.

Now if that's the case, i'd imagine the really outdoor places would then be impractical, i stand to be corrected. Anyhow, with that said, i must confess that most of the sensible "hanging-out joints" in kampala are outdoor, coz the comfort of the indoor venues is overpowered by either large crowds or excessively loud music or both.
Ladies, with that said, lets take our pick!!!

Organising committee is also a grand idea, however i think its better to first "concretise" our idea before we get to that huddle, coz i know its going to be one.

Reason I am asking is cause I think the 16th would be better for us 'locals' who may be planning on going to the village- not to mention all that goes with Xmas preparations (taking into account children, husbands, in-laws and all).

I am sure we can work this out so people please let us know what your plans are.

22nd if that's ok - it's hard to do 16th for us and then we can travel to the village that weekend.

Venue is not hard really - pick one but we might need to confirm it because of the christmas holidays and weddings et al.

Committee very essential - esp the ladies at home "locals" - because that would then take care of place, time and invites should we see if Capui can make it

Did someone anonymous say Capui making it? Oh men before we know it we will be inviting all the miss wasswa's, opaman etc. Don't get me wrong if it wasn't for these people may be we would not be where we are but that is too much drama involved that means we have to buy capui a ticket then instead of us being relaxed and sipping those drinks we will feel like it is Nga days again " goodies know what i am talking about" .
"locals" as everyone has decided to call them we need to get a committee steered up, we have 4 months to go not including july and Dec i think someone local needs to take a lead/volunteer and then can start spreading the word as you can see it is only 4-6 people usually bloging away and i am sure it takes more than that to organize, folks who are reading please put in your two cents we need to make this happen!!

Hi gals,
we have really discussed the issue alot but are not making much progress and yet the clock is ticking!!!

Ok, i'll follow Penny's lead and mention the possible venues that come to mind. Only after we agree on the place shall we know exactly what preparation goes into it. So, in addition to her proposed "honey tree montessori gardens" and "maria's place" i was thinking along the lines of "Blue Africa" and "Kati Kati". These i thought are conveniently (read centrally) located, for most of us.

As for the committee, i was always one to shy away from such responsbilities, however i can promise to attend any proposed meetings, as long as am informed in time. So PENNY, how about you volunteer to lead the "steering committee". And while you're at it, you could pass on the word to GEORGINA Mrs (some name i don't know) that i have proposed her name for the in-charge of music.

Ladies, these will not be hard tasks and i am telling you, you will be glad you participated after the event is successfully behind us. Please do step in and volunteer for the various positions.

I have said my piece (that's how my father used to summarise his lectures, when he thought we were being naughty).
