Does anyone remember a typical namagunga morning - in the midst of the mad rush to get to whatever class - and you had to walk past red-brick and you would find people with (usually a green)tumpecos brushing their teeth outside!!
Either before dorms were closed or after!!
Then the mad rush to please the internal affairs supervisor and you hope you've swept and dug to the best of your ability. Then you "borrow" a hoe from the S1s and somehow it never finds its way back to the poor S1 and yet it would be clearly labelled "Nalumansi IC"
Thereafter assembly - and you find you are wearing studs and can't get through social graces (Assey) so you pin the studs onto your shirt - i am not sure what the difference was really between a shirt and my ears - same thing we were wearing the studs somehow.
Trying to decide what is clearly open shoes and closed shoes - not sure why - but there was always the discussion - if its open at the back is that open - if i am wearing no polish but then maybe some polish and its colorless
is that wearing polish![]()
Ironing on SUNDAY and "cara fires" and you have no shirt for Monday!!!!
Life was truly something!!!
Good people - don't lose sight of the memories keep them coming - and dearest Penny, once you give us a date we'll start working around you.
namagunga
You raise good points........why exactly weren't we allowed to wear studs on school uniform and what was with the "no open shoes".........was Capui afraid that the chu chi (carbon-mugere) would be too much in class? Can you imagine brushing your teeth now with just a "tumpeco" of water. When they say "water is life", they are not lying. If Namagunga did nothing for you, it got you into a routine. Wake up, shower (I am not sure why we called what we did showering.I don't think the Namagunga showers have ever worked EVER!)then dress up that is to say, push your pot into a very colourful skirt, brush that hair until the veins on your forehead pop out in the name of a puff, wear that shirt and make sure you pull it from under the skirt so that the shirt looks straight! And then the lovely grey sweaters.
